Walking down the hallway further and taking a route opposite from the other men in front Isaac signals Shadow to follow.
As for the attack front we'll likely be moving out in around a week or more depending on how long it's going to take to sort out all the repairs. I can't be much more specific than that as timing these things can be hard and I can't tell you where we'll be heading as that's classified for now.
A little further down the hall Isaac comes to a large set of doors and quickly opens them revealing a bar filled with several dozen of the higher ranking captains in the fleet. Finding an empty table in the corner Isaac sits and waits for Shadow to join him.
As for the news you just need to get yourself some contacts around here so you can know what's happening faster. As for the getting to me but although I may not act like it I am still one the most powerful men in the galaxy and no offence but you are still comparatively low down in the ranks. The fact that you can get to me at all though is more than most people can hope for. |
Re: Far Off Dawn Posted by Shadow on 08-24-2003 05:31 PM |
*Sitting down at the table, shadow glances menacinly at the other officers as if saying "stop staring at me ya snob"*
I understand....well, did we ever figure out anything about that third force that intervened during our battle? They appeared out of nowhere...I sure want their cloaking technology... |

*Zak skids to a halt at the closed hangar doors and hammers the opening mechanism. After a few agonising moments the doors slide away to admit him to the room and the scene of Mr Gregovitch standing at the Zeros feet while two technicians can be seen rummaging around inside the cockpit.*
"Hey"
*Mr Gregovitch looks up calmly and turns to face Zak without the slightest hint of shock.*
"Ah Mr Segall I was hoping you'd be having a lie in but now your here you can make your self usefull. Where are the disks containing the Zero system?"
"...Zero what?"
"Don't play dumb with me. I have seen the full report about the incident on Brahe and the preliminary leaked reports from test run on the suit while it was taken temporarily from your possesion after your lapse of control."
"The system you speak of is a mistake of human design, it's a danger to civillization as we know it and should never be utillized again."
"But the fact remains you havent destroyed it have you."
*Zak is knocked off track at this statement, something that hits straight to the core of one of the main inner debates running throughout his mind these past months.*
Why...why havent I destroyed it? I know it's not safe but I know that were I to risk using it again, to use it completely it could push my skills into a higher plane. It's a chance I can't bring myself to throw it away
"Why, have I hit a nerve?"
"What do you want with the Zero system?"
"It is a military masterpeice that can not be ignored. We need this system integrated into every mobile suit. Imagine it Zak, the confederacy could become unstoppable." |
Re: Far Off Dawn Posted by Bhaal on 08-25-2003 09:04 AM |
| Well I would like to get my hands on one of their ships so we can take a look at all the technology they have on board. Our own researchers are only starting to develop some of the things that they already seem to have. If we did get something of theirs than with the size of the Imperium producing it then this war could be over a lot quicker. |
| Posted by MaverickX on 08-25-2003 02:20 PM |
Damn... sitting around here waiting for orders to trickle through... We're wasting time.
Jack turned to the commander once more. "I'm not waiting for those Marines." He raised his pistol and turned the safety off. "I'm going."
Jack ran down a hallway to the medical ward, hoping to find some clues of who this person was working for... He got looks from the Ronin crew, but decided that he needed to continue his bold step to search the ship himself. He ran on, looking for any security personel that would be willing to come with him. None of them seemed to be free, all of them seemed to be at a station keeping guard.
He reached the hospital station and found the surviving victim. Still sleeping in her bed. "Doctor! What was used to poison her?"
"This needle... and we're currently analyzing the poison right now... Her vitals jumped quite a bit... I'm guessing it's a drug to accelerate and over work the heart."
"That's similar to a Confed drug I know of..." |

A pair of shuttles drop from the Marine Frigate and head to emergency airlocks on the Polaris
This is a CT operation, so CT rules apply. Wedge, Piette, remain on the shuttles, no-one enters. Rest of you, we'll head for the bridge first, see what information we can get. Move out! |
Re: Far Off Dawn Posted by MaverickX on 08-25-2003 02:46 PM |
"Well, we're having a hard time tying to figure out what it is... it a older formula, as noted by the needles."
"Yeah, I know that the Confederation spys use a lot of different techniques.. and they enjoy using some old technology sometimes... I'd put my money on the fact that it's probably a Confed spy, but I dunno what the Brahe Imperials use.. so it's still up in the air..."
"Well, Ranmyaku seems to be recovering at a satisfactory rate... We expect her to fully recover in a few days or so. But knowing that she was asleep during her attack, she won't be able to tell you anything about her attacker."
Jack's PDA beeped.
'Marine Transports arrived. Scans indicate armed crew boarding ship.'
"Well, that's good news to hear." He looked back up to the doctor. "Well, just keep me posted with her condition." Jack turns to the bed where Ranmyaku is laying. "I wouldn't want anything to happen to Ranmyaku. I've seen a bit of information that the Confeds have intercepted about this girl. Very impressive. I would like to fight along side her one day, because I would've never fought against her in my right mind." He turned, pulled his pistol back out, and walked out of the medical bay. He noticed some liquid drops on the ground that formed a path. He started following them through the corridors. |
Re: Far Off Dawn Posted by Toryu on 08-25-2003 03:02 PM |
After a quick breifing, the Marines split into two squads. One heads along the length of the ship, the other heads down to Medical, to hunt for clues. As they head down, one of them bumps into a strangely-dressed man who's looking at the floor
Hey! Watch where you're going! And why aren't you in uniform?
The other mmarines near Jack enter the pose that roughly translates as "We don't know who you are, or what you're doing, but we have large assault rifles, and you have a pistol" |
Re: Far Off Dawn Posted by MaverickX on 08-25-2003 11:13 PM |
| "Gah... sorry soldier. I'm tracking this liquid.. I think it's going to lead me to the spy." He continued walking briskly, looking up to see if he could find where the possible spy could be. |

*Mr Gregovitch reaches inside his jacket and withdraws a hand gun, He lifts it to point at Zak before speaking again*
"If you refuse to cooperate I have the power to sentence you to court marshall for an act of treason towards the standing government."
"Mr Gregovitch you are standing upon a ship manned by thousands of crew members loyal to ME. As a you are currently part of this crew I could have you sent to the brig for the act of mutiny."
"I don't fear your actions mr Segall, they would hold no ground with your superiors any longer. And You may be suprised at how many crew members would back me if things came to a dissagreement.
For all our sakes and for the coming conflict I suggest you hand over the system."
"Fine, you want the system i'll give you the system. If it doesn't bother you that upon installation you'll find the whole force looses its rationalit and loyaltiy towards you before begging to decimate itself."
*Ignoring the protruding gun zak strides up to the suit and activates a small hatch on its leg with a press of a button on his belt. The hatch slides away and he removes a small stack of disks.*
"Here, take them."
"Oh no Mr Segall, I couldnt trust you so easily. To prove their authenticity you must load them back into your suit for the coming battle, I assume with their help theres no risk of you dying and loosing them." |
Re: Far Off Dawn Posted by MaverickX on 08-26-2003 10:26 PM |
| Jack kept looking, until it occured to him that this was going to get him nowhere... He could only try... he wasn't going to find anything just looking at the ground and tracking something... He had to think about what he would've done... So far, everything had been done without a hitch, save the miss on that Special's pilot. And now, he's left a trail to slow us down with... he's leading us somewhere... but where would he be leading us too? A closed off area where he has an advantage... but there don't look to be any warehouses anywhere... wait, there's one... and the trail leads there... Jack raised his pistol. Time to find out who the hell is responsible for this. |

Meanwhile, Kara was slowly beginning to wake up, much to the delight of her doctor. She could tell that something had happened from the look of exhausted relief on his face and weakly stated to him:
"Okay.....no stupid lying and crap. What the hell happened? I feel horribly more exhausted than I did last, and in a lot more pain."
"Well, sorry to tell you, but there is some sort of spy or assassin on board. Succeeded in killing 5 of your fellow members of the 'Specials' - Falconheart (Anna Devreaux), Zephyr (Samuel Preston), Blitz-Ball (Jason Blackwell), Bullseye (Yuki Umishirou), and a star pilot and personal friend of yours, Mitsukai (Eiji Yoshida). They were all killed by some type of poison injected into their hearts from a needle. The murderer was about to inject it into your IV tube, but was caught by a nurse. Unfortunately, a drop of it got in and wreaked havoc with your heart. You're a very lucky young woman - we didn't know of any kind of antidote to give you, so it's been seriously risky in treating you. A pity you had been asleep - you could've helped us in identifying your attacker. Anyways, you're not out of the clear yet. Your heart suffered a small amount of trauma, and since you are recovering from those broken ribs of yours, it's putting a great deal of strain on it. So no funny business, okay? Too much exercise could land you in serious trouble or even worse."
At first Kara looked as though she were about to complain about not getting much exercise, but shut her mouth when the doctor mentioned about her health taking a dive over it.
"Oh, and here - thought you'd want to have this."
With that, he handed Kara what looked like a gold locket on a chain, with angel wings and a halo engraved on it with silver leaf. Recognizing to be Eiji's, she grasped it tightly.....then closed her eyes and let a small tear trickle down her face. Opening her eyes again, she looked up at the ceiling angrily. Whoever did this will pay dearly. For Eiji and all her fallen teammates....... |

Jack readied himself and opened the door using the mechanized door 'handle'. The door slid open and Jack immediately moved inside and to the first stack of boxes on his left, closest to the door.
The shadow continued along cautiously looking to make sure he wasn't detected. He noticed that the door had opened and closed. So there's someone in here. The shadow immediately hid behind a stack of boxes and yelled out. "Who goes there?"
"Variable goes here."
Variable? Then I'm saved! He walks out with his weapon lowered and held by his side with one hand. "Come over here... you must be the other operative I'm meeting."
Jack slowly moved over to the shadow wearing the standard black covert suit. "Are we on radio silence?"
"Yes, sir."
Making it up on the fly, Jack tries to go with it. "I replaced the other operative at the last minute... But, there seems to be a problem with this situation. One: You got detected. Two:" he quickly shot the spy's pistol out of his hand. "We're on the opposite sides now." He raised his pistol to the operative's head. "Down on your knees. Hands behind your head. Fingers interlocking."
"Variable betraying the Confederation... this oughta be news when it gets out."
He picked up his PDA and opened a comm channel with the bridge. "I'm in... Cargo Bay Nine, I have the spy in my custody. Come and get him." He replaced the PDA to his cargo pocket. |

The massive shipyard hangs in space adding the industrial element to the picturesque would-be void. The pinpricks of light making up the rest of the monitor satlleites view are suddenly joined by hundreds of much more immediate masses.
*Zak sat and watched from the viewscreen in Zero's cockpit as the shipyard replaced the streaks of hyperspeed and drew increasingly large as the flagship decelerated upon re-entry.
His feelings conflict over the joy of approaching battle from the pilot seat and the anger at the fact that he was performing the wishes of a man who he would desribe as an 'incompetant bastard' on a good day.
His musings where however interuppted by an incomming transmission*

In his room after having left the bar a man runs in out of breath.
Sir. The Confederate fleet has launched a counter attack, They are appraoching the station now.
Thank you. Get to your station as soon as possbile.
Saluting quickly the man runs back out again.
They must be foolish if they think they alone can take on sthis station. There are enough ships docked here other than our own to take them down not to mention enough firepower on the outer hull of this place to repel all but the largest fleet.
Leaving his quarters and going to the Hyperion through the bustling hallways Isaac finally makes his way to the huge bay holding the Hyperion now filling with crew and watching as the enigneers hurredly leave as they ready for battle. On the bridge Isaac takes his possition and begins to look at the reports as dozens of ships leave the station while thousands more still gather their crews.
They may have caught us by surprise here but the stations guns will give us more than enough time to launch the ships. |
Re: Far Off Dawn Posted by Toryu on 08-28-2003 04:22 PM |
Surrounded by smaller ships, and with the two huge battlewagons flanking it, the Sacrifice turns and begins to accelerate into the darkness
Sir... second beacon is within a few thousand kilometers of the first. They must have begun their attack. At maximum speed, we estimate a 2 hour hyperspace journey.
Very well. All hands, to combat stations. Engineering crews, prepeare for maximum hyperspace speed. Slave all ships to our command.
Jump in Three.
As the Sacrifice accelerates, hyperspace gates appear in front of all the Ronin vessens simultaniously. A few seconds later, it's as if they'd never had been there |

A marine squad appears and takes the spy captive. Letting Jack breathe a bit before going back to the Med Bay to check on the surviving victim.
"Wow... thanks guys."
"No problem. Alright men, take his bastard down to interrogation right now." Some marines exit with the first spy. "There's someone else coming isn't there..."
Another shadow walks around the corner into the room.
Jack notices this and reacts. "Freeze!"
The shadow, freezes on instinct and starts to prove that he really isn't a spy. Just a pilot. Stupidly enough, he pulls out a Confederate ID.
"Spy..." He raises his pistol and shoots at the holstered pistol on his belt. "Take him too, Sargent."
"Sounds good, sir. All right, you get moving."
"Entering hyperspace. Intercepted battle-station orders. Logical station: board your MS, ready for battle. Weapons: use long range rifle setup.
Jack ran over to the Med Bay. He looked at the victim, who was now awake and walked over to her. "You must be that Specials pilot... I'm Jack Conway, a new pilot here on the Polaris. I found the spies that attempted to kill you... they should be in the brig now." |

Yumi sits in her cockpit, ready for battle. Having heard the transmision to be rady to engage, she does so. She had gotten the OK from the doctor, to be allowed in battle. She is nurvous, but she plans to give it her all, and not let her worries from the past week take her over.
While waiting, she gets a transmission from Karina.
Are you sure you are ready for this, Yumi?
Yumi takes a deep breath before answereing
Yeah. I can't let my worries have us lose the battle. And I can't let my sister's deth go unpunished.... That is why I joined the confederacy...
a sigh can be heard in the transmission
Just be careful, Yumi... Your sister wouldn't want you to be killed doing something foolish, and your friends don't want you killed for the sae reason, either...
Yumi sighs as Karina cuts off the transmission. Karina is obviously flustered at the fact that Yumi won't take the advice to rest and sort out the problems that have been bothering Yumi for a while. But Karina's word of advice could probably never penetrate the stubborness of Yumi's determanation. All Karina can do is pray that Yumi won't get hurt... and herself not to get killed for worrying about Yumi... |

((Sorry I wasn't around yesterday, I was out of town and staying at a hotel without internet.))
*Shadow, apon hearing an alarm sounding presses a few buttons on his holopanel and a camera showing the Damnation's main cannon.*
Ah, so it has been finished, this time, if the damn thing doesn't miss, we can put a small hole in their attack plans...
*Shadow quickly steps to the elevator behind the oversee-ers podium and presses a button and the evevatior begins its desent. Shadow then pulls out a comm and speaks into it. Accessing the ships speaker system, and it also sends out to the entire crews phones.*
This is captain shadow speaking. Alarm has been sounded. An attack in beginning. Although we have NOT received word from command to join the battle, I am assuming we will. ALL crew are to return to the ship and suit up NOW!
*Shadow steps onto the bridge of the ship and begins to power up its engines and weapons systems.* |

With the fleet begining to be deployed and more ships lining up waiting to get out of the doors the fleet readies itself not far away from the base as the Hyperion finally crewed slowly emerges from the largest doors and takes its possition amongst the fleet waiting for the Confederate forces to come into range.
I don't want any ships going off to engage them. We'll wait for them to come to us so we can use the firepower of the station too. |
| Posted by Nemesis on 08-29-2003 06:04 PM |
*With nothing to defend the Confederacy joint fleets initiate a full offensive strike against the ship yard, The mobile suits are deployed en masse and head out in a spread formation to minimize losses against any massive beam attacks.
The larger ships hang back and begin laying down a covering fire through pre-designated gaps in the suit formation. Covering the suits with heavier weaponary the relativley small although suit dwarfing Panther strike ships zoom in to engage and unleash their heavily offensively rigged arsenal.*
*Zak takes the zero foward to the front lines, he watches as ships swarm like bees from a hive out of the shipyards openings.
As he comes into combat range his fingers hover over the keypad before he tightens his resolve and enters the initiation code Z E R O, the cockpits displays become drowned out by a yellow glow before settling down and begining to fast feed the reams of battle data into Zaks brain.* |

Re: Far Off Dawn Posted by Bhaal on 08-30-2003 03:35 PM |
| With the units on the move the Confederate troops adancing the Imperiums own dolls begin to drop from the carrier bays and tens of thousands coming from hatches on the surface of the station bringing assault weapons with them taking up possitions to support the hull mounted guns. With more ships and troops emerging from the hangars all the time the Imperium troops open fire setting the sky alight with the dolls heading up a charge into the ranks of Confederacy dolls while the small stike ships charge through the lines to get closer to the Confederacy battle ships. |

*Shadow sees Carl run onto the bridge.*
Basiclly, if a suit comes in and is damaged, you fix it. Otherwise, just watch the systems diognosics and if something gets broken, fix it, or turn it off if you can't. Ok?
*Shadow turns to the ships main arms officer*
All mobile suits are to deply but do not move out too far from the ship. Gunners, fire the long range blaster cannons.
Lucky pilots get to go out there and fight. Feel the thrill, here I am stuck inside.......screw it.

Re: Far Off Dawn Posted by Shadow on 08-30-2003 09:21 PM |
Oh, Carl, one last thing before I got o my suit, I want you to upload this program to the suit.
*Shadow inserts a disc into a CD drive and sends Carl a program with the file name "Advanced Manuvering.mse*
Load that up while I come on down. Bridge officer, your in command while I am out. DO NOT fire the Final Avenger unless I give the command. I don't want to use it unless it is a dire need. Or someone higher up wants us to...
*Shadow steps off the bridge and starts walking down the hall to the suit hanger.* |
Re: Far Off Dawn Posted by Bhaal on 08-31-2003 02:08 PM |
With the battle begining in full and the troops meeting each other in the middle the Hyperion hangs in the back lines waiting for an opportunity.
I want our ships to break up and try to get around the Confederate fleet to try and push them from this side and from another so we can keep their firepower spread and possibly prevent them from breaking up too. |
Re: Far Off Dawn Posted by Shadow on 08-31-2003 03:42 PM |
Sir, new orders in, we are to move around to the rear of the confederate fleet and get them from the other side.
Crap, Carl, keep the MS prepared. Turn the ship and get us behind them.
Sir, that would take quite a long time...We could go though a few steady holes in their formation....
Hmm...*shadow takes a quick look at the radar for the fastest and most safe option.* We're gonna take some hits. But we've been in worse scrapes than this. Put the radar up on the front screen. *The radar goes onto the main screen. Shadow points at specific areas of the image.*
Ok, we are going to go though the gaps here on the right flank. We will move as fast as possible. I want all power diverted to the engines and medium to short range weapons. We will fight our way though taking out what we can in the process.
*Shadow opens a comm to the Hyperion*
This is Captain Drake, I will be moving to the other side of the Confederate force. But instead of taking the long route around, my ship will be moving though several gaps in the lines to get around and do as much damage as possible. Drake out.
*The Damnation begins moving towards a place in the line where there are fewer suits. It begins a heavy fire with all weapons that are in range.* |

"The fools, all our heavy fire power is concentrated through those gaps and would rip any lone vessel to shreds Not to mention the fact that passing through the middle will leave the susceptible from all round to attacks from the suits.
Well alls fair in love and war, though maybe they'll see sense before they enter the storm."
*As the front waves of confederacy mobile suits engage the lines they use the Zero as a rallying point. Inside the suit itself Zak has broken into a could sweat and struggles to regulate his breathing.*
"I can do this, I can control this system, I will not be manipulated by A MACHINE"
*the beam sabre comes to rest for a few seconds as the suits highly polished gundanium vividly reflects the simultaneous explosions of a multitude of now disabled Enemy dolls.* |
Re: Far Off Dawn Posted by Bhaal on 09-01-2003 12:16 PM |
| As a contingent of the Imperium forces break away from the grouping around the station rather than heading for the gaps they head straight for the lines of mobile dolls firing on their way with the heavy weaponry easily poping the Confederate suits while the dispersed and comparatively lightly armed suits have do little damage to the thick armour as the ships charge through rather than being bogged down by combat leaving behind the thousands of suits that were supporting them to deal with their equals. |
Re: Far Off Dawn Posted by Shadow on 09-01-2003 12:28 PM |
Sir, every ship just turned towards us. Going though there will be a freaking gaunlet.
*Shadow stands in silence for about 2 minutes, thinking about his course.*
Damn, why do they always have to notice us. Turn the ship towards their formations edge, looks like we have to do the old fashioned flank manuver. I want all weapons on the port side to be firing. Heavy ships take the brunt of our weapons. Mobile suits are no problem, the others can get them from the front. We are moving to the rear for a reason. Now lets move!
*The ship turns and moves off a distance away from the edge of the line. It stays out of the range of enemy extra heavy weapons. Taking a few scrapes here and there from light weapons that can reach the range. In a short period of time, the Damnation is behind the enemys last line and preparing to make its main run with the other ships in the rear.* |

With a sound resembling "foom", the Ronin fleet drops out of hyperspace 1,500km 'above' the platform, each ship pointing 'down' towards it.
Admiral, the fleet is in position. Lucifer Cannon at 95%, all mecha are green. We await your orders
Is this really wise, sir? We're too close
We shall see. All units, if anything makes a hostile move, blow it apart. Until then, we drift towards that thing. |
Re: Far Off Dawn Posted by Bhaal on 09-02-2003 04:24 PM |
On the Hyperion in the Conference room Isaac sits at the head of the desk with several dozen generals when the some of the screens spaced all around the room begin to show the approach of the Ronin forces quickly getting the attention of all those there.
Them again. What are we going to do about them? Our fleet is busy enough as it is assaulting the Confederacy troops without having to deal with them.
They are a strange group but so far they have been content to sit by and watch and we can only hope that they will do so again but we can't take too many chances. I want to pull back the main fleet to the station again. If the Confederates want us then they can come and get us but we'll have the full support from the station then. If the Ronin do decide to do something then we can move quickly to react. We hava enough force here to deal with both groups if needed but it will be a lot more costly.
Sir what about the groups that we sent out to engage the Confederate fleet at closer range?
Have them pull back to but I want them and the rest of the elite squad to do straifing runs of the Confederate formations. I don't want the Confederates to be able to rest a while. |

The beams slam into the Ronin fleet, most seemingly dissipated by their strange armour. After a few moments though several of the smallerships are overwhelmed and explode
What the hell is happening? I was expecting an attack to come from the Yard!
Deploy the mecha! Capital ships, annihilate anything that's foolish enough to come within range. Demon, Archangel you're with us. Engage the command ship, full weapons spread but no heavy artillery.
The three huge vessels turn as one, turrets all turning to face the Chimera. Withing moments, a hail of yellow energy pulses tear towards the Confederate flagship |

*as the first wave of beams strikes the ship the hulls structural integrity is pushed to it limits.
On board the ship Mr Gregovitch stands with a fixed grimace, his hands clenched tightly on the side rails*
"Be proud people, for you are the ones who shall go down in history as heralding in a new ruling order for our citizens.
It's you who are saving the people from needless years of war for by proving our allegiance with the Imperium and by sacrificing the fleet we crumble the resources of those tyrants who seek to throw the galaxy into constant turmoil
Today we die so that others will live in peace" |

Kara badly wanted to talk to Jack, and him leaving so quickly was most unsettling for her. She was screaming inside - and not just from the pain she felt from her poor health. Eiji Yoshida was her best friend, and the person who asked her to join the Ronin forces in the first place. Often the other members of the Specials unit made jokes about them being so close, considering that Kara's callsign was "Chaos" and Eiji's was "Angel". Though she never admitted it to herself, deep down inside Kara had desired to be closer to Eiji - to be more than just friends. Now that dream would never come to pass, and Eiji was gone forever. Still clutching his beloved good luck charm in her hand, Kara allowed herself to shed great tears. Feeling unashamed since no one was around, she proceeded to cry as hard as she had the day her father died. Though grateful that the horrible men who had done this atrocity had been captured, Kara still felt like vengeance needed to be taken. Someone had to pay for taking her friend's life, and for her fellow members of the Specials. Such a terrible loss indeed - especially the loss of "Bullseye", who was known for his immensely accurate aim with any weapon, whether in his suit or on foot. As she pondered all this mess in her mind, Kara was trying to get some rest, when she was alerted by a nurse that there was some kind of conflict going on and that the Polaris might be called to action soon. Having finished her report, she checked to see how Kara's heart was doing. While she endured the examination, Kara wished that she was able to join the others in the battle if there was to be one - the urge to fight was raging within her like an unquenchable fire, and it seriously angered her that she was badly injured and needing a long time to recover.
"I promise, Eiji.....you and the others will be avenged." |
